a new year

I know I'm a little late with this post but it's only the 10th so I think that's ok :)

I mentioned a few of my 'resolutions' last week but I want to go more into detail and I've added a few others.
These are in no particular order.

  1. A Facebook reprieve- I have done this before and it is always a welcomed break. It's no secret that I love Facebook, I love seeing all the kids, I love sharing pictures of Lucas, I love getting ideas and recipes but I just feel my heart sinking more times than not when I open my news feed. SO many friends of mine are pregnant and I want to be happy for them and most of them I am very happy for but it doesn't mask the sharp pain that comes with each ultrasound photo or complaint about morning sickness. I just can't take it right now, weather it be wrong or right I am just being honest.
2. Eating better- well of course this is one. ha! Since the beginning of the year I have been trying to get back on the wagon, I am slow at it that's for sure but all this week I have counted calories and have stayed at or under my recommended amount. I am feeling great! I have completely cut out pop and deserts and am making much healthier dinners, so far so good on this one :)

3. More exercise- well duh. This one is the hard one for me. I love to exercise and motivation isn't the problem for me it's time, I don't have enough hours in my day. I have done ok at this one this year but I still want to do better. I am loving the couch to 5k and wish I would get better about fitting this into my life!

4. Nail biting- I really really really want to learn to stop biting my nails! I have tried this goal countless times in my life and here I am 25 and still saying I want to quit biting my nails! It's truly in my genes ha! My mom bites hers and Lucas is biting his now! I just want to stop for cosmetic purposes :)
And so far so good on this! I got to file and put a clear coat on mine a few nights ago, that's huge if you know me!

5. Be more intentional with God- I want to bring it all to Him. I want to lean on him in my recent struggle. I want to search for answers though him and learn from him. This will be the hardest for me, which I find sad. I am not good at 'quiet time' I am worse with prayer. But I am finding out though this journey I can't be the woman I want to be without him. As much as I have questioned him with my miscarriages I know he is real and he is there and he loves me. I started a devotional book this week about a lady who went through miscarriages and it has been such a blessing to me. I want to read more about who He is and search out his path for me. Music will help me with this and I am also going to start writing in a journal I think that would be a tremendous help for me.

These 5 things won't make me perfect but they will make me better. I am so hopeful for this year and I am excited to see where it takes me but I also have a lot of work ahead.

On Exercising....

Not sure why it happened but over the past week I have the urge to start "exercising" maybe it's because I am turning 25 this year or because Lucas turned 3 and I am still carrying some "baby" fat, or because Ashley got me out to the track one day and I felt so much better!!

Over the past 6 days I have "exercised" 4 times! That is huge for me! Thursday and Friday Ashley and I went to the track for some walking and while it wasn't fast walking or even continuous ,we walked. Saturday I got up early and took Cooper for a walk/jog ya know walk a little jog a little, I loved it! Monday morning I broke out an old walking exercise video.

My plan of action is to go jogging on the days I can and do an inside video on the mornings I can't. With Brent's job some days he is leaving before the sun is up so those days will be inside days also will depend on the weather. The days Ashley and I can make it to the track will be bonus. And the days I can't do any of it I will NOT be hard on myself!

I'm not worried about loosing pounds or inches. I just want more energy, I want to something good for my body for a change.
Since the holidays and then Brent's accident we have fell plum off the "eating better" wagon. I think we are still making better choices sometimes but we have not been cooking much which leads to eating out. I will say we are not eating "burgers and fries" much but we are still eating convenience foods which might be just as bad. So while I want to try and get us back on track eating wise I also know I love food, and sweet tea, and a cherry coke from Chilli's!
I am a foodie, I am going to eat and I am going to eat yummy stuff. Which leads me to exercise if I can't control my will power towards food I can control my will power towards exercise.

Before my mommy days I loved being active working out at the school gym, running on the treadmill, playing tennis. But once Lucas arrived there was NO time for all that, I mean I guess there was but I like to sleep too! ha! Working full time, having a little one, and running a house doesn't leave for much room for me time so I let it go.
But now that Lucas is getting older I can find time when I can do something for myself.
I am choosing to exercise.

I really hope I can keep up with what I am doing, I have learned I have to get it done before Luke gets up for the day or not to even bother with it.
But even if this doesn't work I am committed to trying to stay healthy for my family.

2012 To Do's!

This year I did not set any resolutions per say. It has been so crazy at my house this last month I didn't have the energy nor did I care to much to worry about it. And lets face it my resolutions would be the same as they were last year; save money, eat better, yadda yadda. Which never turns out pretty! ha!

But with my house starting to settle down I have been brain storming about what I want to get out of 2012! Of course I want to try and be the best person I can be but this year I also want to really tackle my house! The year of the home redo is what I told Brent :) he just rolls his eyes!

But really I want to set goals, put a set amount in savings and by my deadline I want to get them DONE!!
Nothing major just some room spiff ups O and all new floors thought out, haha!

So here is my list, I know some will get done and some will not get done but I am going to try really hard this year!

{front/boys bathroom redo}
new window mistreatment
3 new hooks under the window for towels

new lighting

frame mirror

move towel rod to back of door
replace old style hand towel ring with hook
new floor (maybe?)
(see nothing to it ;)

{luke's room}
sand down and paint my ol childhood bed for him
get new mattress
shelves up for his piggy bank collection
t.v. up on the wall
better closet system

{spare/craft/nursery room}
major purge of all that we don't need
organize
set closet up for all my chotchkeys
new carpet

{living/everything room}
new flooring
try and convince Brent to move screen doors around once and for all!!
gallery wall (maybe?)

{kitchen}
new floors
new counter tops
new back splash

take ugly molding down above sink
paint
new light(s)
new system for pots and pans
install pantry (maybe?)

{laundry nook}
paint and rearrange cabinets
put a table/folding board atop of the washer and dryer

wowie like I said I know that all that getting done is unlikely but I want to try and it feels so good to write it down!

So now who wants to come help me? ;)
