Framed Art!

Lucas brings home a ton of pictures from school, I love them all of course but have to choose the ones to put up! I do have some on the fridge but I loved this idea for my laundry room!

I just spray painted some old frames I had, I wanted a fun color! I love this blue!

Hung up the frames with a couple of nails.

Then hung the clips with some nails also. I think it's pretty cute! Now I can fame some of Luke's art work and change them out often!

This project cost me a total of $2 for the clips! I had the frames and the spay paint! Yay! Go me!

I more than likely will not be blogging next week, I am going to spend my days with Lucas, visiting friends, being lazy, going on a trip, eating good, and having fun!

Have a great weekend!

Tidbits for Thursday!

*Note this is very random! And I'm going to try and do these once a week.

  • First I have to say that I only have a day and half left and I am officially off work for the next week! I am so excited! Luke and I are going to have so much fun! I have a bunch of stuff planned and we are also going to Tulsa to go to the aquarium on Friday!

  • Brent is selling his truck and getting a Mustang like this one (I think I got the year model right) anyway, I am pretty excited I was kinda bummed when we sold our last one. Lucas is going to love it! His favorite cars right now are Mustangs and VW bugs he can name both of them in most year models!

  • I was looking at old pictures last night of myself just a year ago and I am so happy with how much my hair has grown out!! You see I had a lapse in good judgement and went with a short "stylish" do a couple months after Lucas was born and that was a bad bad deal! I'm just not "stylish" enough to pull that off. I much prefer my hair in a long side braid or messy bun. I am thrilled to be getting close to wearing my braid again much to my hubby's dismay ;)

  • Last night I felt like I ran into my first "parental judgement situation", it was not fun and my feelings were kinda hurt. I will not be judging any other mommy's in the future. I think we all need to realize kids are all different and they have good days and bad days and we shouldn't look down on a parent because a child is misbehaving or being a little hyper, this is mostly for me to remember.

  • Brent's job is going very well (well he may say differently Ha!) I think it has been a great change at our house. Yes it gets hard sometimes when he is gone but all in all it is going great! We do think his impending trip to Pennsylvania is coming up and he will be gone for a month. And while I will be heartbroken and worried most of the time he is gone, I am kinda excited to go up there for a visit! I've never been past Colorado so something new to experience!

  • Speaking of Brent's job, so often now when I tell people about Brent's job and that he is out of town and yadda yadda they will say something along the lines of "How awful" or " I don't know how you deal with that" and it really hurts my feelings.

  • I got my new Anthropologie dress in yesterday! I couldn't wait to wear it today!! It fits perfectly!

  • Brent's mamaw is in the hospital and not doing too good, she has cancer and doing radiation treatment. We are praying she starts to feel better soon. With Brent's mom already so sick and now Mamaw, it's going to be very tough.

  • I love reading and writing these random posts!

Birthday Party Weekend!

Saturday we went to Carter's 3rd birthday party and it was great!! They rented out the church gym which has basketballs, footballs, soccer balls, big yoga balls, a game room, and a party room! They also had a bounce around for the kids! Lucas and Brent had a lot of fun playing basketball!

I have never seen Brent play basketball like that it before it was fun!

Lucas had to "shoot it" a few times!

Lucas in the bounce around!

Monster truck volcano cake that Liz and her mom and sister made! They did such a good job!

yummy home made cupcakes!

Birthday Boy blowing out the candles!

Lucas waiting on his cake and ice cream.

We had a lot of fun and went home after getting some dinner for the night the boys were exhausted! ha!

I am so glad I have been able to get to know Carter and his family, they are so sweet.

Sunday I got up and went to mom's house to clean out my new to me dresser and get it loaded up!

I found these crayons inside it, my Mema was notorious for hiding stuff from us kids! I have been helping mom go though some of her things for a few weekends now and I am always finding old toys and things. She was always so worried we would write on the walls with crayons, markers, and paint and always afraid we would break something with bats, balls, and other stuff. It's so funny now that I think about it.
Needless to say I kept the crayons :)

Sunday night Ethan and his family came over for dinner! We cooked cheese burgers on the grill it was a lot of fun! The boys definitely had a blast!

Lucas all snuggled in Monday before I had to wake him up for school, I just had to take a picture of this bedhead!

He is so sweet and in the evenings when I'm watching t.v. and he is ready for bed he will say "Mommy I wanna snuggle" it melts my heart! He is so rambunctious and "all boy" doing crazy stuff during the day but he loves us so much and is so sweet at night. I tell him " Your so sweet Lucas" and he tells me back "Your so sweet Mommy" ah I die!

And!

This isn't necessarily weekend stuff but yesterday Lucas, Chloe, and I were outside playing in the yard, we haven't really had a chance to play outside lately with 110+ heat but I decided you know what we are not going to watch t.v. this afternoon. And what do you know, Chloe found ANOTHER snake! I couldn't believe it! I was on the phone with Cox about our new DVR (whoop whoop!) and I tell Lucas to gather his cars we are going inside, of course he didn't want to so I had to put my "do what I tell you right now mommy face on" I yell at Chloe to get in the house and get the Cox lady off the phone (mind you she was trying to sell me something else, why do they do that!?). We all get up the deck and by the door and a bee starts attacking us!! Now I know to most people this sounds crazy but I am way more scared of bees and stinging bugs than I'll ever be afraid of a snake so at this point I loose it! I am almost in tears and now Lucas is upset. But I get Chloe to stop snapping at the bee and we all get in the house (without Luke's cars)! I tell Lucas we are not going out there anymore until fall! He said "Ok" in his little scared voice, ha!

After all that I send my friend this text. Ha! I guess we are going to have a few more t.v. days ahead of us because it so hot here and I can deal with the heat but I can't deal with critters AND the heat!

Tonight I have my board meeting that I love to go to and Lucas is going over to his mema's so they will have a lot of fun :)

Have a great week everyone!

Before and After Bedroom Dresser

I'm going to do a weekend post too, I just couldn't muster the energy yesterday, Brent was outta town and it was just one of those days.....

But this weekend I switched out dressers in my bedroom to go along with the rest of the room redo! One new thing gets me going on all kinds of other stuff in the room!

This is the before! My old white dresser I bought when I first moved out of my mom's house don't let the cute dog and candle throw you off ;) It was definitely to short!

Here is the after!

Much better don't ya think? I may or may not be changing out the pulls I really haven't decided yet. You may have noticed the mirror on the floor, I took it off the stand (as you can see in the first picture) I think I am going to paint the frame white and hang it next to the dresser, kinda different but that's how I roll :)

This was my grandma's old dresser and I am so happy to have it!

The Highchair

Photobucket

You are looking at the very last piece of "baby furniture" in our house now.

And all this week Lucas has sat in a "real" chair during dinner and when he is coloring. I am so sad, it looks like we could put this in the attic with all the other baby paraphernalia.
He is also using the potty all by himself he goes in pulls down his pants, goes (catches up on his race car reads), empties the potty into the big potty, and flushes. All. by. himself. I just really don't know what to think of that. I'm not ready to stop buying diapers! The only thing that is getting me through this time is I want more, more babies. I honestly don't know how much of an emotional wreck I will be with my very last little one.

And then during all the excitement and sadness I felt about all this last night, at 2 am I hear a faint sound that I haven't heard in months and months. Lucas was in his bed crying for me. It took me a minute to fully grasp what was going on I went in a scooped him up, and took him back to my bed and laid there thinking for at least an hour.

I have been dwelling on how fast he is growing up and how much less he is starting to need me but he is still little and he does still need me but it is going to turn into a different way. Instead of changing diapers and kissing boo boos I am starting to see where I will have to really listen to what he is saying and needing and what is going on his world and trying my very best to teach him right from wrong.

This is such a crazy ride being a mom and all, it's the biggest most exciting roller coaster ride I think I will ever be on. But most days are so fun and I couldn't see myself anywhere else.

I am so blessed that I am able to be his mommy. He is the smartest, silliest, most handsome little boy I know and I have to remember to thank God for him everyday.
