Weekend Recap!

We had a fun fun weekend! Thank goodness I have been praying for some easy days without anxiety.

Friday night we were going to spend some much needed time as a family but Brent had an offer that he couldn't refuse ;) so Brent, Luke, Pawpa, and Tyler went to the new Go Kart track in town. I really didn't want to be out in the cold and such so I stayed home and gave the puppies a hair cut! haha what a funny Friday night but they needed them so bad and I got some quiet time doing a little mindless activity.
After they were done I rewarded myself with a cherry coke and cheddar bites from Sonic for dinner! Not bad :)

Saturday Brent had to be up early and go on a quick job so Luke and I stayed home and I did a ton of laundry. Fun fun. But that afternoon we had a birthday party for one of Luke's 'kids' from school.

I snapped some pictures of Lucas before the party to use for his bday party invite, that I need to order soon!

Snapped one for the outfit of the day :) I have no idea why sometimes I go through spurts of loving my clothes and other times I hate everything I have in my closet, is it hormones? ha!

I am also loving my hair right now (I know that is very vain ha!) the color, the length, and I love it straight, I don't think that will ever change. I mean I like some curls too but I always go back to straight. Brent likes the curls, of course :)

Some arm candy on Saturday. Loving loving loving having fingernails and feeling like I can wear bracelets. When I had ugly nails I wouldn't wear anything on or near my hands (except my wedding rings) because I didn't want to bring attention to them but 28 days without biting my nails and I am getting some long ones :)

After the party Saturday, Luke and I went to Wally World then came home.

That evening he got to spend the night with Pawpa and the gang so Brent and I had a hot date night at home!
He cooked steak, asparagus, and potato jackets, a recipe of Paula Deans.

The potatoes are so so good and getting to light them on fire is always fun too!

It was a so good, I even ate all my steak, which is unheard of! We just sat by the fire and got caught up on our shows from this past week, it was a good low key evening together after a long week. Perfect.

Sunday after going to get Luke and stopping for some brunch from Shipley's, I tried to get him down for a nap. It didn't happen but I loved that he climbed to the very top of my pillows and snuggled in.

Sunday evening we had my mother in law's birthday dinner. She had fun and loved all the kids being there. Lucas' face cracks me up in this picture! He made sure to help her blow her candle out :)

That was about it. I was not ready for Monday to begin but isn't that always how it goes :)

Thursday Tidbits!

  • I've been trying out new recipes I've found on Pintrest or blogs and this was one! So very yummy but next time I'm going to try it with green peppers, we just like them best. This is also pretty healthy besides the cheese on top. I used ground turkey for the meat.

  • A few nights ago I found Luke's Santa hat and  put it on Chloe, she left it on for the longest time! I think she liked it! ha!

  • We had a really fun weekend last weekend. Went to 2 birthday parties and Mema came over to play with Luke while Brent and I got a date night in on Saturday! We went and ate burgers at the new 5 Guys place then went to see Zero Dark Thirty. Wow that movie was very intense, very moving that's for sure. Definitely recommend that one.

  • Lucas and I taking pictures before the birthday party Friday night, he's so silly!

  • I'm in full party planning mode for Luke's party! I think we will do a Dinosaur cake for the party with some simple decorations, lots of balloons, a pinata, yummy snacks and a house full of people we love :) sounds pretty perfect! I am hoping it falls on a nice day and I can set up a few things for the kids to do outside. It is very hard for me to fathom that he is really turning 4! He is such a sweet boy and sometimes I still can't believe he is mine.

  • I ordered this cute shirt from Petite Lemon for him to wear the day of his party, I just couldn't pass it up :)

  • We went and looked a floor samples last week and I think we have decided what we want to do. Now it's just getting the courage to tear the house apart to start the process. Oh how I dread that! But I dread living with carpet too so it just needs to get done. We can't decide if we want to tackle it before Luke's party or wait til after. Brent has to get the tile in the entryway laid before the wood can go in so that will depend on his work and such of course.

  • I am on day 17 of not biting my fingernails! WhooHoo!! Wish I could say the same for exercising! Oh well I'm trying :)

  • Anytime I put my earbuds in to run Lucas always wants them to listen to music so after I'm done he does this for a while and listens to my running tunes! ha!

  • We have some fun things coming up in the next few days! I'm thrilled to have a 3 day weekend! Hoping to do some real deep cleaning in between the fun stuff! ha!

Happy Birthday Chloe!

Today is my sweet Chloe girls' 7th birthday! I cannot believe it has been 7 years since that dark ball of fur stole my heart.
She is the best dog and honestly probably my best friend, she has seen me though some hard times and all of my best times.

The story of Chloe:

7 years ago I was a senior in high school (whoa) I had been begging my mom for a "puppy of my own" we had our family dog Belle but I wanted a cute little white/blonde girly puppy that I could dress up and spoil. My mom on the other did not want one and she certainly did not want to buy me the breed that I had in mind, Yorkie or shitzu. So while all my other friends planned to spend their graduation money on trips or laptop computers I was getting a puppy!

Desiree of course knew of my desires and just so happened to see some puppies cross the road one night. She called me that night and told me she had found a puppy and wanted me to see it, she thought it was a boy, already a strike against it. I was thinking yea right I do not want some big ol mutt dog that eats everything and poops mounds but I went to see him anyway. She had left him in her car (with the windows down of course) at the daycare she was working at. I got there pretty early and went in to get her keys. I unlocked the door and looked and looked for this puppy. I didn't see it, again I was picturing a big lab or pit bull type puppy to run up and slobber on my face.
I checked under her front seat and there he was, a tiny terrified, brown puppy with floppy ears and curly pig like tail. It was love at first sight! I held him and talked to him and just knew he was mine. I put him in my car and ran in and told Desiree I was taking him.

We went straight to Petco and blew threw way to much of my graduation money, I got him collars, leashes, toys, a bed, a shirt and a bandanna, food, treats, and who knows what else! I immediately showed him off to all my friends and starting thinking of a name.
Auggie, Auggie the doggie is what I choose. I loved him and he was mine.

Within the next week Auggie had to visit the vet we went and I will never forget the vet telling me my Auggie was a girl! I wasn't sure what to think I'm sure I asked him if he was sure (as if he wouldn't know) because I had already bought everything he would ever need in blue! But sure enough he was a she, I remember asking the vet what kind of dog she was and he said "I don't know and it doesn't matter she is full of love and is a great dog" I often wonder if he might of known something about her bloodline but wanted me to hear those words instead.

So after a day or two of deliberation Auggie became Chloe.
Chloe went everywhere with me she was with me at my friends houses, she went to work with me, she went to the store with me and when I couldn't be with her I made sure my mom was spoiling her in my absence. Mom grew to love Chloe as her own and Chloe loves my mom second to me I am sure. And most people who know me, know Chloe.

Chloe has been through a lot with me, I won't go into details but she means so very much to me.
Of course I don't know an exact birthday for her but I counted back and chose April 10th to be her day.

These days Chloe does not get a whole lot of time with me, it breaks my heart when I think about it but I do try to make her feel like she is still the "special" one. She was my first baby and that is hard to change.

Happy Birthday Chloe and many many more!!

Weekend Recap!

Friday we called and ordered our new bed!! It won't be here for 2 more weeks but I am happy that it is on it's way nonetheless. This is mine and Brent's first real bed together! ha! Our bedroom is usually the last one that gets any attention so I am happy to see it come together.

Friday evening we went over to my uncle's house for dinner with my mom, we had a lot of fun and got to catch up.

Saturday morning watching cartoons!

And Chloe too :)

Saturday we went and had lunch at Chick fil a and ran some errands, Lucas got to spend some of his Birthday money at Toys R Us and then we went to fly some kites at the park!

Lucas got a Cars kite for his birthday and Brent had one from a few years ago.

Luke's kite flew like a dream! It stayed up forever, can't say the same for Brent's it had a good run but the wind got to be too much for it.

Luke and Pawpa in their sunglasses.

Daddy and Lucas playing on Sunday.

Sunday afternoon we had a baby shower to go to. After the shower we came home and settled in. Since it was just Luke and I for dinner we had a fridge clean out night and ate while we watched some of Luke's favorite shows. This kid loves Family Guy, I know it's not the most wholesome programming but I can't say no when he asks to watch Peter pronounced "Petta" So funny! Usually him and daddy watch all the Sunday night cartoons but I was all he had :)

We had a fun weekend now if this week will just go by fast so I can get on to the next one!

{Meet Cooper}

Our Sweet 6 week old chocolate cocker spaniel.
He was Brent and Luke's valentines gift from me.
He was born 2 days before Christmas or 3 days after Brent's accident.

He has been such a good baby, I went and got him Friday afternoon from Ozark. The lady I got him from was so very sweet and loved all those babies.

He has adjusted very well to our family for being so young. He eats, a lot and plays hard but sleeps most of the day. He loves to just snuggle right now and wants to be held all. the. time.

I seriously keep thinking why haven't they invented puppy slings, because I can't get anything done! ha!

There has been such an empty hole in my nest since we lost Corben a year ago, he is just what we needed to fill it a little bit.

Cooper is about the size of a guinea pig. He already has taken to the potty training thing, he whines when he needs to go out and runs to the back door, I for one and completely amazed by this.

We are crate training and that isn't going as well. We just can't stand to hear him cry and one of us has spent the night on the couch with him since I brought him home :/ but we had the same thing happen when we had Corben and after a few hard nights he loved his cage, so we are going to keep at it.

He looks a lot like Corben and Brent was really taken back by that. He was really sad at first because of it.

Lucas really loves him and I think they are going to be fast friends. They play until Cooper is just pooped out, in a few weeks they will really be able to play and run outside :)

But this one; she is very mad at me, she did not want a new puppy. Hopefully with some extra love and treats she will come around.

So that in a nut shell was my weekend, I spent a lot of time sitting on the couch and holding a puppy and taking lots of pictures, doesn't get any better than that!

We are completely in love with little Cooper, I hope he has a long, healthy, and happy life with us.

Fall Weekend Round Up! (is that poop!?)

Luke and I (I didn't add Brent to that because he had a long hard day at the ractrack Saturday) had a very much needed relaxing weekend after a busy week!

Friday night we went over to my Uncle David and Genia's for dinner, it was yummy and we always enjoy getting everyone together for dinner.

Saturday Brent headed to the racetrack early early in the morning so we were all up by 7! Lucas and I watched movies and played around the house until about 2 we stopped for "Happy Nour" and went to mom's house, Lucas napped and I went to Wal-Mart and Kohls! I love those little $10 Kohl's cards they send out! My dad always gives them to me and I get one about once a week! I go in and challenge myself to spend only the $10 and I've done it successfully twice! This week I got a free rug for my entry way!

For dinner we met up with my grandma and dad to eat some Mexican, and I have officially had my very first "embarrassment by my child's question moment". When our dinner came out and Lucas saw the beans on my plate he asked rather loudly "is that poop?!" and he was serious! He wasn't trying to be funny, which was even more funny to my mom and I. I could have died and while I am trying to compose myself to not laugh because I didn't want him to think it was funny he asks it again, and again! We were sitting INCHES from other tables mind you, I am finally able to explain that it is beans and to not say that at dinner but boy o boy that was a doozie!

When I text Brent to tell him I can't stop laughing again! Fun Fun times!

After dinner Luke and I head home and watched some t.v. then went to sleep, Brent got home really late so I didn't even try to wait up on him ;)

Lucas and Chloe asleep on the couch.

Sunday we went and had lunch at Panera Bread then headed out to Neumier's Fall Festival! We have been twice now and it has the best fall "scenes" for picture opts! Which I love!

Lucas got to ride a pony and he wasn't even scared!

Lucas and daddy in a tee pee!

Lucas and mommy with our new pumpkin!

Nice weekend I really wasn't ready for it to end but the good news is we are only 5 days away from another ;)

Lucas ready to head to school this morning! That smile makes everything seem so easy....
