SUYL - What do you feed your kids?

Over at Kelly's Korner she is doing Show Us Your Life Fridays and today is What do you feed your kids? I thought I'd join in so I could document what Luke is eating these days.

Lucas is getting to be a picky eater here lately which I don't really like :) but he eats more than some kids I know. His absolute favorite thing right now is peaches, he loves those little cups of peaches and eats at least one a day!

Lucas and Daddy also eat an apple together after dinner every night, he loves apples too!

Meats are something we struggle with! He will eat chicken nuggets... sometimes and he will eat a "burder"(hamburger)....sometimes we just never know. The one meat I can get him to eat all the time is his turkey lunch meat. I know probably not the best option but at least he's eating something!

And of course like his mommy he is a candy eater! I craved and ate candy the entire time I was pregnant and he loves it to this day! Chocolate candy, fruity candy, it doesn't matter we both love it! I limit our his candy intake pretty well but it was hard around the holidays and I'm expecting it will be hard with Valentines Day approaching!

Some other things he likes- yogurt, applesauce, HOMEMADE mac and cheese, rice-but not Mexican, loves milk and juice and water even, plain bread, green beans- but only if mommy makes them :), crackers, and most cookies, french fries and tater tots, ice cream, bananas, some cereals.

Fun Snow Days!

For the past 2 days we have been snowed in the house, we as in Luke and I, Brent went ahead and went to work today. All schools have been closed so that includes Luke's preschool. I know a lot of folks hate the snow and ice but I love love love it! I am always looking for an excuse to stay home with Luke :) even if the power had gone out I would have treated it like an adventure and camped in front of the fireplace but we were lucky and didn't have any power outages in my town! Anyways here are some pictures!

Best Buds (not so sure Chloe would say so though)

I made my cat Callie come in from outside because of the weather so she finds the highest place in the house to hang out, I'm afraid to say she is terrified of Lucas!

Ethan and his mommy Ashley came over for a spur of the moment play date this afternoon, I am so glad she did I think the boys needed it!

Generations

This past week I have been reading "Her Mother's Hope" and "Her Daughter's Dream" both by Francine Rivers. The books follow 4 generations of women starting in the early 1900's and going through modern day with all the trials and tribulations women face the books are wonderful! Reading them makes me think back to my own mother and grandmother's relationships. How they are so different but still the same. Lately when I'm in a hurry and glance in the mirror all I see is my mother. I wonder how many women have had that same thing happen to them.

But it has got me thinking about a lot of things with the women in my family, we have such a un-talked about bond that is truly amazing. We have always been very close. My grandmother moved in with us when I was five to help take care of my brother and I since my dad was nearly out of the picture. It was like having 2 mom's then, I learned a lot of stuff from my grandma and we've always shared a special bond. She is the one who taught me how to keep a house clean and neat and pretty, one of my biggest passions today. I know I got that from her and I love her for it! I remember she was always teaching me "how to be a lady, cross your legs, ladies don't do that, etc." I am so glad she did, I've see girls in my generation that are less than ladies! ha! She was also a stickler on lying, she knew when we were lying and it would crush her! She always told us "I've never told a lie" I didn't know weather to believe it or not as a kid but I think I can see that now.

My mom worked a lot when we were growing up so we spent many days with my grandmother (Mema) she was the one there after school and in the summer, looking back I see what a blessing it really was having her there. And what a weight that had to be lifted off my mom by having her there.

At 86 Mema isn't doing to good these days. She has been battling cancer for almost 4 years now and it is taking it's toll. Sometimes she is in her "right mind" and some days she isn't. My mom is her primary care giver now and that is hard on both of them. I think this year will be a rough one.

Makes me so sad that one day she will not be here anymore and she probably won't get to meet my daughter but I take comfort in knowing she will always be with me and I can't wait to teach my daughter the things Mema taught me!

A Few Life Lessons!

In the past few weeks I have learned a few life changing things and I want to jot them down so I will always remember when and how I came about knowing these life lessons.

* Never take people (or pets) for granted they can be gone before you even realize it.

* Make sure everyday you have with the people you love is used to the fullest especially your kids, you are not guaranteed forever.

* Church is not a scary place it can be quite refreshing and fun. I am so thankful we felt welcomed and loved the first day we went, that to me is priceless.

* Having a sick child is never easy! And will always be scary.

* Sometimes friends are a better asset than family.

* My husband and I will never be "perfect" but we always make it though and love each other in the end.

I have not become a better person because of these things .... yet, but I am trying and these things have been on my mind constantly.

I still miss my dear dog terribly and have had a sad demeanor about myself lately with all that has been going on I know I've got to get out of my funk but I still want to remember.

Slow Weekend

We did a whole bunch of nothing this weekend and it was fantastic!

Friday night we went to visit my new little nephew "Way Way" as Lucas calls him. They were still in the hospital so it was a short visit. I didn't take any pictures actually I didn't take very many all weekend.

Saturday we didn't do a thing! We didn't even leave the house! My friend Desiree came over to visit and catch up but that was all. I made meatloaf and mashed taters for dinner and that was it! Ha!

Sunday we got up early and went to Church!! I was so excited Brent finally said he would go! Lucas had a good time in the nursery, no tears! We went to a Sunday School class and then to the service ~ Funny Story- I rear ended a lady coming out of Wal-Mart last weekend (I know so bad of me, it was def a accident, I looked away for a second!) well after everything was worked out, she was so nice and didn't call the police or my insurance company, Brent will fix her car for her. She invited us to her Sunday School class. Mind you this was at the same Church that Jessica has been trying to get us to for months now! So I told Brent about it and he was up for it! I was so excited! We really had a great time the class was good and the service was awesome! We will defiantly be back next week!
After the service we went to lunch with Jessica and her family we had a great time! And Lucas did pretty well, taking him out to eat doesn't happen much but it was really nice!

We came home Sunday and took a nap and when we woke up it was snowing!! Yay! I love snow! Lucas did not have school yesterday either because of the snow so I stayed home with him and Brent took the day off as well. We did nothing once again took a nap and that was the highlight of the day!

All in all we had a relaxing weekend to say the least!

A New Week, A New Year, A New Baby!!

My very first Nephew was born yesterday! He was 6lbs 7 ozs and 18 1/2 inches long! He was born 3 weeks early and via C-Section due to a few small complications. But everyone is ok besides my sister in law, Kristin being in some pain of course.

Waylon Cash Cavillo!

Lucas seemed to like him until everyone started taking pictures of Waylon and not him. He had quite the meltdown. He has been the only baby on both sides of our family so that was all new to him to not be the center of attention. He did show Waylon his balloon but then someone said "O you want to give Waylon your balloon" and he quickly said No! Guess he was just showing it to him not giving it to him!

I see a lot of "boylike" fun in my future and I cannot wait!!
