Halloween and Then Some!

We didn't have a very good Halloween night this year :(
I got a call from Luke's school around 2 saying he was running fever. I went to get him and he was not feeling good. He tried really hard to have a little bit of fun but stayed on the couch for the most part. It was heartbreaking.
We did get our pumpkins carved the night before. Brent and Lucas did a great job with those!

In better news.... We got a new car!! It's a 2010 Hemi Challenger! I am in love and having SO much fun driving it! It is so nice and I LOVE the inside!

Luke and I will have a blast the next few months driving this to school and work! And it will be fun for day trips and date nights :)

The only thing I really want to change on it is the wheels. I want them back the original silver-y color. Other than that she is perfect to me! Of course Brent has a few things he wants to add to it! ha!

I am feeling very spoiled to have such a fun cool car to drive! It is quite different than my Tahoe (which I still adore) but I love it! It has taken Brent many years but I think he may be slowly turning me into a car girl ;)

This weekend we spent the whole weekend at the track! It was a fun time with family and friends! Really good weather on Sunday too!

It was a different kind (bracket) of racing this weekend so Brent didn't get to go to many rounds but we all had fun and made a little getaway weekend out of it!

I turned 18 weeks on Friday and had to get a picture in the huge mirror in the hotel room :)

Today it's back to work and school and that is not as fun but hey I did get to drive a Challenger to work! hehe

Life is good!

Weekend Happenings!

We had a very full weekend this week! Lots of fun stuff this time of year!

Friday Brent and Lucas skipped work and school to head to the racetrack! Brent had a big race this weekend and since Lucas wouldn't be able to go on Saturday he got to go Friday. He was very happy!

Neat shot Brent got of the race car.

Lucas was pooped after the track and slept until we went to dinner! ha!

In other news my truck got to come home!! I have really missed it!

Turned 16weeks with baby love on Friday!!

Also on Friday I ordered baby a bouncy seat! Eeeek getting so so excited! Can't wait to find out the gender so I can really start shopping :)

Another bump picture after work on Friday. Y'all I seriously cannot quit! I am going to have a million pregnant pictures of myself by the end of this. ha!

Friday Luke and I had a wedding. He was the ring bearer and did such a good job!
Sarah and Mike's wedding was so much fun. It was at Lake Fort Smith and it was just a perfect day.

Ate two of these huge pickles from the wedding! Lord help me! ha!

While we were at the wedding Brent was at the racetrack. He ended up in the final 9 when they had to call the race because of an anti-freeze spill. They had a lot of fun and he even won some money!

Yesterday I made up a big bowl of Halloween candy! We are in full Halloween mode at my place and I can't wait for this 'halloween-y' weekend!!!

I ended the weekend doing lots of laundry, making tacos and watching Safe Haven. That was not a good pick for my crazy pregnancy hormones, if y'all know me you know I am NOT a crier but I have cried more times during this pregnancy than I have in my whole life! I bawled after that movie, Oh my word.

Hope you had a great weekend too!!

I'm Married to a {Drag} Racer!

My husband Brent is a drag racer.

He has a car, strictly for going down the racetrack. He has a trailer to haul it in and tons and tons of gear to go with.
5 or 6 times a year (or more some years) he goes to the racetrack and goes down the track at close to 100 mph of course there are many cars there that go even faster than that.
The passion for the sport eludes me but it is growing on me.
For me it is less about the sport itself and more about the people.
I see a passion in Brent that is truly amazing. I see Lucas experiencing every little boys dream. I see families with kids driving and dads beaming with pride. I see fans who would rather be at the track than anywhere else. I see the track owners working so hard because they love this sport and want to see it keep on even while they make no money.

                                                 Brent's Car

I never thought I'd be married to someone who drag races. Never.
When Brent and I got together he told me he was building a race car. I didn't think much of it. I thought he was like ever other guy and just talked a lot but never followed through. But he did.
While I was pregnant he worked on his car and took me to the racetrack to get acquainted with the sport I suppose. We also went to Las Vegas to a NHRA race when I was pregnant and I had never experienced anything like that before, still haven't. Everyone needs to go to a 'real' drag race one time in their life. It will
literally make your head spin!

Once Luke came along Brent put racing on the back burner for a while but it wasn't long after Luke was walking that Brent had to take him to see daddy race! Luke has been hooked ever since. I have countless pictures of Lucas sleeping at the racetrack. The noise has never bothered him and he's never been scared. Now there has been a few times that I have been scared and he could tell something wasn't right and would be upset.

I have seen one major accident in my short span as a racetrack wife, but I've also seen a few others that messed up the cars pretty bad and shook up the drivers and fans. Those really get to me all I can think about is Brent of course and how sometimes I think it's not IF you will wreck it's when. Brent assures me he will be safe. He has all the safety equipment and all will be fine but sometimes I get really truly scared. I think that's just a wife, momma, woman thing. :)

Something else that has been talked about since before he was born was Luke racing. He can race as a Jr Dragster when he turns eight! That's four more years! He talks about driving a jr dragster a lot! As a mom I am scared to put my baby in a car and let him go 'fast' but another part of me can't wait for him to share that with his dad. I know time will only tell weather Luke will have the racing bug.

And if I am being honest I've had plenty of times that I was annoyed by Brent's love for racing. I have thrown my fair share of embarrassing fits over being at the track late into the night or not wanting to spend money on car parts but the more I'm around it and the wiser I have become I am proud that Brent has a wholesome hobby to involve his kids in. I'm happy to see him spend his hard earned money on something he enjoys.

I'm not sure why I felt the need to get all this out there. I don't talk about racing a whole lot because I've always felt it's 'Brent's thing' but the older Lucas gets the more I can see it becoming his thing too and if both my boys are at the racetrack where else would I rather be. Odd how parenting will always change ya :)

And see here is some evidence I do have some fun at the race track ;)

My first and only ride to date down the drag strip! Brent took me for a spin down the track in cousin Gary's car because his doesn't have a passenger seat!

I sure do love my handsome race car driver :)

Weekend Roundup!

We had a whole bunch of fun this weekend we all 3 got to be together all weekend long! That is almost unheard of these days.

Friday night we went to eat Mexican food for dinner and then hit up wally world for some snacks for the racetrack the next day.

Saturday morning I went to my first ever Barre class. O it was so FUN! and painful don't get me wrong but the lady who leads the class is hilarious! We worked our arms, tummy, legs, booty, all of it. There's some ballet moves mixed with aerobics mixed with yoga a dash of dance and some basic exercise. I really loved it. It's low impact too! Can't wait to go again :)

When I got home we headed down to Geno's (our home away from home) to eat lunch before we headed to the track.
We headed towards Centerville around 2:30 and got there a little after 4. It was the first time taking the new trailer and everything went great! We are all loving the extra footage.

Brent did really well. He went into the semi finals and won 4th place! He got some money too! We love when that happens :)

I stayed in this spot most of the afternoon soaking up some sun, sweet tea, and good words! I have had some stirrings in my heart lately and am trying to figure 'things' out I guess you could say. I started One Thousand Gifts by Ann Voskamp, I've read it before but it is defiantly worth a second read.

Lucas on Saturday night, tired and but tugging right along. He is always so good at the track even when it's a very late night.

We didn't get home from Centerville til around 2am So Sunday we took it easy, slept in then went to town for lunch and to get some socks for tball.
We came home and the boys were lazy all day and I cleaned house and cooked dinner it was a good Sunday.

I am ready for another fun easy weekend!

Thursday Tidbits!

  • Whew! What a week! I've been busy and missing Brent so bad. I am so glad he comes home tonight! Like for real.

  • I am getting to start my weekend early with a fun dinner tonight with one of my favorites girls! So excited for that!

  • Last night after I was done painting Luke and I had a fun little movie night! We ate junk food in bed and watched Rise of the Guardians. It was good and he just loves watching movies. He will watch the whole thing and not make a peep. So funny!

  • I have been painting, painting, painting this week. I am sick of it but so happy it's getting done! We are thisclose to having our house DONE! I am so so so happy about that!! I painted below the chair rail this color in our little dining nook and it looks great if I do say so myself! I also painted the entire laundry room myself on Tuesday night including puddy-ing the walls, sanding and painting the cabinet casings, and standing on a ladder to paint the top of the room. All while making sure my child was fed, bathed, and happy. It. was. hard. but I am so proud! Oh and I even did some grouting on Monday night! Hey if your not gonna brag on yourself who is? ha!

  • This weekend we still have a lot to do. I'm going to paint the back door and Brent needs to get the laundry cab doors sprayed and put back up. We are kinda thinking of tiling the front bathroom floor while we are knee deep in this mess and we need to spray the roof because it seems we have a mildew problem up there AND we have to move every single thing out of the main part of the house (think living room and kitchen including appliances) for the wood floors to be installed. I know I think we are nuts too. I am just thankful we are both willing and able.....

  • I got to wear a spring-y outfit this week! Yay! But the rest of the week has been chilly and now today it's supposed to rain. boo

  • Brent bought a new racing trailer. It's a little bigger than our last one (which is for sale if you need one!) but much nicer, supposedly. I don't get to caught up in this sort of stuff. ha! It's in Texas and what this means to me is when we go get it an Ikea pit stop is in order! SO fun!

  • Speaking of road trips we canceled our weekend to Hot Springs that was coming up because I am a ding dong and booked it for Easter weekend! Ugh! Pretty bummed about that one but what can ya do!?

  • Lets see lets see what else is going on......thinking of going ahead and dying my hair this weekend. I am still so torn (story of my life) but these roots are driving me batty and I need to just make up my mind and do it!

I guess that's all I can think of my mind is now consumed with curtains and rugs! Eeeek so exciting! Hope your week has been much more restful than mine :)
