WordyWednesday!

I know I've already had one picture of my brown dog on here this week but I cannot resist!

When I got Cooper I kind of did it on a whim. It was this time last year and I wanted Luke to have 'his' very own dog. So I thought what better valentines gift to both of my boys than a dog that 'they' could take care of. Gosh who was I kidding!! I won't ever do that again! ha!

Lucas was still so little he had no understanding of dog care, obviously and Brent was not very happy that I surprised him with a living thing that we had not discussed so after all was said and done,
I had got myself another dog.

Of course both of them loved Cooper, he was so sweet and little, calm and sleepy. But fast forward a few weeks and he was a biting, pooping, chewing machine. I had conveniently forgotten this part of puppyhood. There were so many days I almost gave up, found him another home but I just kept plugging along.

And I am sure glad I kept him in our little family. He has become such a good dog, besides the once in while chewing, he is just the sweetest thing. He loves Lucas to pieces, is always up for snuggling, and is a very fast learner.

I have become very fond of our chocolate baby and I hope he is with us for many many years :)

A Cat Funny

Ok so you've got to read this story about 'Kristen' the cat, this cat is always causing trouble and/or having to be taken to the vet. I laughed out loud at this one!

And this is exactly why I want a houseful of kids and pets, lots of laughs! Go now and read!

Happy Birthday Chloe!

Today is my sweet Chloe girls' 7th birthday! I cannot believe it has been 7 years since that dark ball of fur stole my heart.
She is the best dog and honestly probably my best friend, she has seen me though some hard times and all of my best times.

The story of Chloe:

7 years ago I was a senior in high school (whoa) I had been begging my mom for a "puppy of my own" we had our family dog Belle but I wanted a cute little white/blonde girly puppy that I could dress up and spoil. My mom on the other did not want one and she certainly did not want to buy me the breed that I had in mind, Yorkie or shitzu. So while all my other friends planned to spend their graduation money on trips or laptop computers I was getting a puppy!

Desiree of course knew of my desires and just so happened to see some puppies cross the road one night. She called me that night and told me she had found a puppy and wanted me to see it, she thought it was a boy, already a strike against it. I was thinking yea right I do not want some big ol mutt dog that eats everything and poops mounds but I went to see him anyway. She had left him in her car (with the windows down of course) at the daycare she was working at. I got there pretty early and went in to get her keys. I unlocked the door and looked and looked for this puppy. I didn't see it, again I was picturing a big lab or pit bull type puppy to run up and slobber on my face.
I checked under her front seat and there he was, a tiny terrified, brown puppy with floppy ears and curly pig like tail. It was love at first sight! I held him and talked to him and just knew he was mine. I put him in my car and ran in and told Desiree I was taking him.

We went straight to Petco and blew threw way to much of my graduation money, I got him collars, leashes, toys, a bed, a shirt and a bandanna, food, treats, and who knows what else! I immediately showed him off to all my friends and starting thinking of a name.
Auggie, Auggie the doggie is what I choose. I loved him and he was mine.

Within the next week Auggie had to visit the vet we went and I will never forget the vet telling me my Auggie was a girl! I wasn't sure what to think I'm sure I asked him if he was sure (as if he wouldn't know) because I had already bought everything he would ever need in blue! But sure enough he was a she, I remember asking the vet what kind of dog she was and he said "I don't know and it doesn't matter she is full of love and is a great dog" I often wonder if he might of known something about her bloodline but wanted me to hear those words instead.

So after a day or two of deliberation Auggie became Chloe.
Chloe went everywhere with me she was with me at my friends houses, she went to work with me, she went to the store with me and when I couldn't be with her I made sure my mom was spoiling her in my absence. Mom grew to love Chloe as her own and Chloe loves my mom second to me I am sure. And most people who know me, know Chloe.

Chloe has been through a lot with me, I won't go into details but she means so very much to me.
Of course I don't know an exact birthday for her but I counted back and chose April 10th to be her day.

These days Chloe does not get a whole lot of time with me, it breaks my heart when I think about it but I do try to make her feel like she is still the "special" one. She was my first baby and that is hard to change.

Happy Birthday Chloe and many many more!!

{Meet Cooper}

Our Sweet 6 week old chocolate cocker spaniel.
He was Brent and Luke's valentines gift from me.
He was born 2 days before Christmas or 3 days after Brent's accident.

He has been such a good baby, I went and got him Friday afternoon from Ozark. The lady I got him from was so very sweet and loved all those babies.

He has adjusted very well to our family for being so young. He eats, a lot and plays hard but sleeps most of the day. He loves to just snuggle right now and wants to be held all. the. time.

I seriously keep thinking why haven't they invented puppy slings, because I can't get anything done! ha!

There has been such an empty hole in my nest since we lost Corben a year ago, he is just what we needed to fill it a little bit.

Cooper is about the size of a guinea pig. He already has taken to the potty training thing, he whines when he needs to go out and runs to the back door, I for one and completely amazed by this.

We are crate training and that isn't going as well. We just can't stand to hear him cry and one of us has spent the night on the couch with him since I brought him home :/ but we had the same thing happen when we had Corben and after a few hard nights he loved his cage, so we are going to keep at it.

He looks a lot like Corben and Brent was really taken back by that. He was really sad at first because of it.

Lucas really loves him and I think they are going to be fast friends. They play until Cooper is just pooped out, in a few weeks they will really be able to play and run outside :)

But this one; she is very mad at me, she did not want a new puppy. Hopefully with some extra love and treats she will come around.

So that in a nut shell was my weekend, I spent a lot of time sitting on the couch and holding a puppy and taking lots of pictures, doesn't get any better than that!

We are completely in love with little Cooper, I hope he has a long, healthy, and happy life with us.

Tidbits for Thursday!

  • Completely random post remember? ha just wanted to warn anyone reading!

  • I am down to only being 3 pounds away from my pre-Lucas weight! I am pretty excited about that and think I will stop here and maintain. I have never had issues about my weight but I just assumed when you had babies you got bigger and stayed that way, I didn't think I had any self control of yummy foods and candy but I have found out I do and I can! But I don't feel like I have deprived myself at all just making healthier choices and telling myself no once in a while. Brent has lost 15 pounds and wants to loose 15 more.

  • Tuesday night we went to McDonald's to play with Ethan and Ashley. Those boys sure do keep us laughing!

  • Lucas and I are puppy-sitting for the rest of the week/weekend. She is only a little over a year old so this may be the true test of which side of the fence I am on about getting a puppy. She has been so good and both Chloe and Chip love her! I was really surprised Chip did so well with her!

  • Funny picture of us Tuesday night, my phone takes the worst pictures when you flip it around here is proof! ha!

  • Today Lucas has another field trip at school! They are going to the Wild Things Farm, Lucas loves going! They will get to see pigs and goats, go on a hayride and pick a pumpkin from the pumpkin patch. I am very sad I didn't get to go, being a working mommy is so hard sometimes :(

  • The other night I asked Brent if he liked haunted houses he said they were ok and I replied "I love them I want to go to one this year" then I thought wait how old is to old to be going to haunted houses! ha! Neither of us has brought it up since.....

  • I love the new update for my iPhone when it comes to texting! I am also so glad Brent knows what he is doing then it comes to this kind of stuff or I would have never got the new update ;)

  • We are planning a trip in December to go to Branson, Mo to see all the holiday festivities! I am getting really excited about that, once I get Halloween out of the way I will be full on planning mode for that!

  • Speaking of Halloween, Lucas keeps telling his teachers he is going to dress up as a snowman and when I asked him today what he was going to be he said a princess! Where does he get this stuff! Crack me up! He is actually going to be a skeleton.

  • O this boy, we can pick up his room and not 2 minutes later it looks like this....

  • I still need to do a post about our weekend and the apple picking, maybe I will get that done before I have to post about this weekend! ha!

The Case of the Missing Meow......

I don't get to talk to much about my pets on here, well because let's face it since becoming a wife and mom my "fur babies" have taken the backseat if I'm being honest.

But this is kinda a funny story and I'll want to remember it so here goes...

Last Sunday I noticed our cat Chip, Chipper mostly to me, wasn't meow-ing. I know to most this isn't a big deal but Chip is VERY vocal, he is always "talking" and loves to meow at the back door to come in on the weekends.

So I brought him in and gave him some food thinking something was stuck in his throat, he ate and drank. I looked him over thinking he got in a fight or stuck in a tree but nothing his collar was still on and not tight so I went on about my day.

Into the day I noticed he was being very lazy, he is usually lazy but he was being more than usual I also noticed he wasn't purring. I kept him inside that night thinking he's meow would be back the next day, it wasn't. I made him stay inside while I was at work Monday and made him an appointment at the vet for Monday after work.

Luke and I went home and loaded him up to take to the doctor. Lucas was very concerned that Chip was sick and kept saying "it's ok Chipper" all the way there. Taking pets to the vet is a whole different experience when you have kids in tow. I always worry Lucas will get scared or see something that he won't understand but our vet's office is very good about making sure to tell Lucas in a way that he understands, it's amazing really and Lucas loves going there! Chip not so much, ha!

They checked Chip over, nothing. They asked me some questions and still came up with nothing. So they gave him a shot of antibiotic and we were to come back if he got worse or if his meow didn't come back within 5 days.

The next morning his meow had returned, not full force but pretty good. And every day after it has been better.

I have no idea what caused it or if the antibiotic helped it but I'm happy to have my meowing kitty back!

Chip is 5 years old! He's been with me longer than Brent and he has defiantly given me some stories to tell! I "rescued" him from a shopping buggy at Wal-Mart him and his brothers and sisters were up for grabs and they all looked pretty sickly but I brought him home and he has been happy ever since. I had always thought kittens with his coloring were the cutest and boy he was a cutie!

Today I have my hair appointment to get it colored I haven't had my hair colored in 5 years! Yikes!! I am so excited!

Also Thursday I will include the final tally of my "No Spend September" it ain't pretty people!!

Have a great week!!
