Thursday Tidbits!

  • Lucas had his first tball game on Monday night. He did pretty good. He had fun and didn't cry so that is a win in my book! So far his favorite parts of tball are the snacks and cheering for who ever hits the ball (his team or the other)  hitting off the tee and the playing in the dirt. So I say all in all we are doing pretty good ;)
  • Lucas also had his spring program at school this week. Now this is something he can get into. He loves being on stage and making people laugh and he did not disappoint on Tuesday night. He makes me so proud!
  • I got my hair cut yesterday and finally made the ever so hard decision to get bangs. I am still unsure if that was a smart move but I think it will be a live and learn experience for sure! And as we have learned in bible study if not liking my hair is the worst to happen to me this week then that is good with me!

I like them better pushed over like this.

But mostly I like them like this. lol!
  • Sometimes I forget how good I have it. Sometimes all it takes is a text from a friend or family member to put it all into perspective. My heart hurts for those who don't have a supportive family, loving spouse, or healthy kids. I want to remember to count my blessings every single minute but life so often gets in the way. It is such a hard balance.
  • This week has been a loooooog week. Work has been brutal and we've been so busy in the evenings all week. I am looking forward to the weekend so much!
  • I am also looking forward to barre on Saturday! I've been sore most of the week but that is ok! My legs will look amazing for it ;)
  • I am trying really hard to get healthier, I'm not to concerned with my eating as much but I want to get back exercising, drinking water, and taking my vitamins. Hard stuff y'all!

  • Brent finally found a new (to us) truck! We are so excited it is so nice and being a mega cab it has more room in the backseat than my Tahoe! It will be great for long rides to the track and I kinda can't wait to drive it some too :)

  • I had something kinda fun/funny happen to me yesterday (besides the bangs, I'm not able to laugh at that yet lol!) Luke and I had a playdate fall threw yesterday so we went to the park to play for a bit. Another lady and her 2 girls where there playing. I sit down and am browsing through my phone on FB and see that Laura (the lady that helps take care of Brent's mom) was tagged in post that said something like "waiting on Laura at Bell Park" and I thought hey! I'm at Bell Park! so I look over and I ask if she is waiting on Laura and she was! It was kinda neat. Luke got to play with is best friends Zoe and Tyler and he made a few new ones. I got to chat with Laura and made a new friend too. Love when fun stuff like that happens :)
  • Please keep my sister in law in your prayers, she is having a hard time with her blood pressure and isn't due with baby Emmy til the end of May. We are praying she can make it a few more weeks before they have to take the baby.

Tidbits for Thursday!

  • We had the best time with Lucas last night on Halloween! He is so much fun right now it just amazes me. We went and trick or treated some of our neighbors before dark but spent most of the night handing out candy. Lucas had so much fun talking to all the kids and seeing the costumes. I'll have a full Halloween post up tomorrow I hope....

  • Brent was offered a job last week. It would mean we would have to relocate to Arizona, it's something he has always considered doing but after much thought we think we have decided against going. There's many reasons for our decision but the biggest is he would be on the road more than he would be home and that's just not what we want right now. It was hard to turn it down but I am still so proud of him for getting that chance and I have a feeling this won't be his last :)

  • Wearing another Pintrest inspired outfit today! Yay! I can't believe how good I have been with following through on my pins lately. Ha! This is just a simple black tunic and black leggings with grey boots but the scarf makes it! I learned how to turn a regular ol scarf into an infinity scarf! So much fun!

  • Another thing I straightened my hair today to see just how long it really is, O my word! I have officially got it back to where it was when I cut it all off after I had Luke, I am a happy girl! Love love long hair.

  • It was pajama day at school, and he cracks me up!!

  • I can't believe it is Nov 1st! I am so ready for a new month and for all the Christmas festivities to begin! I've convinced Brent to let me put the tree up early so I'm gonna do that the next weekend! I got Luke an elf on the shelf and "Santa" will drop him off soon, but I'm going to go ahead and give him the elf on the shelf movie today so he can know the 'rules' of the elf :)

  • I am having a much needed girls night out with my bff tonight! Can.Not.Wait!!

  • We are going to the racetrack this weekend if it doesn't rain, they will do a costume contest and Thanksgiving dinner on Sunday it's always lots of fun!

Hair Day!

I've had so much on my mind lately between the baby stuff and Brent's job offer my head has been spinning, so I guess I've decided to take it out on my hair ;)

I had the 'urge' to start curling my hair out of no where. My hair is naturally curly as in lots of waves but lots of frizz if I just let it go. I had been wearing it like that for a couple of months because I just haven't felt good. On my good days I would straighten it. But I am so over straight hair but I just didn't know how to 'fix' it without using my beloved Chi. ha!

Any who so I have been seeing a lot of girls with this natural curly look that I just adored but didn't want to put forth the effort. One day last week I plugged in my curling iron and just went with it! It came out cute and I was happy! I sprayed her down with some cheap ol hairspray and went on with my day. My curls didn't even make it to the office! Once I looked in the mirror at work all I had left was a slight wave! Ok so that didn't work.

That night I asked on FB about some good tips to keep curl in. I got a few responses but the one that stuck out was BedHead hairspray, maybe I just needed a quality spray? So I did the only thing I knew to do, run to WalMart and see if they had it, well no they didn't. They did have a few BedHead products and one was a hairspray but it was in a pump not an aerosol. I bought it anyway.

The next day got up blew dry my hair, curled it, and used the new hairspray. I was better but still didn't hold too long.

I tried a few other sprays that WalMart had because I have no patience I guess, and still wasn't impressed.

So while I was at the mall this weekend with Luke I stopped at JCPenny and bought the BedHead Masterpiece spray that was mentioned on FB. I also watched Megan Tree's hair video to get some tips!

And so far I am loving my 'new' look!

First day with BedHead hairspray!

Yesterday I went to get my hair touched up and a trim, I added a bit more blond to it and she straightened it for me.

Here I am today with my blond curls!

Loving how soft it looks and feels, this hairspray is so good, my hair bounces and smells amazing too!

Today I am going to Ulta to grab some Paul Mitchell Fast Form Gel that was in the video, says it commits your style to memory, umm awesome! We'll see how that works!

I've never been one to spend money or time on hair products so this is quite unusual for me but I'm having some mindless fun and getting great hair days out of the deal!

Tidbits for Thursday!

  • I really think I have found my new hobby, I am loving and learning so much on this coupon-ing ride! Last week I got a package of razors and the store paid me 3 cents!! I was ecstatic! And yesterday I saved $26 in coupons at the store for stuff that we needed! My final cost was $149.00, I know that sounds like a lot but that was buying fixings for 3 huge batches of chili to feed 20 people (meaning I bought 6 pounds of meat), also in that was a package of pull ups and a package of diapers and wipes, groceries for at lest the next week, and 5 pounds of apples to make applesauce (which is my other new found hobby, ha!) not to mention the 18 bars of soap, plus other bathroom supplies and lots of cleaning supplies! I hate to brag but I am getting SO good! We have coupon seminar coming to church this Saturday and I have rounded up about 4 other ladies to attend with me! The best part about all of this, is teaching others. I just love it! My biggest personal goal for coupon-ing right now is to get a stock pile of toiletries, cleaning supplies, diapers, and wipes so when/if I am able to stay home with our next baby/babies I won't have to go to the store for these items for 2 years, a little crazy? maybe but think of all the money you wouldn't spend if you only bought food.

  • Ok on to something else.... I think we have decided to jump on the bandwagon and for go cable t.v. hate to say it but I could not be happier about this! We spend way WAY to much on our cable bill and it drives me nuts, mostly because I never watch t.v., but we are going to start streaming our shows and look into Netflix and Brent wants to look into a box that pulls the "shows" out of the air waves, I guess like radio? But you buy the box and their isn't a monthly charge.

  • Lucas fell asleep like this on Monday night! Love the monkey socks! ha!

  • Tuesday night Ashley was over and we were getting ready to head out for our Mom's Night Out with the playgroup (which was a blast!!! I needed that) and Lucas sees a Chuck E. Cheese commercial and says "I can't play any games" (and he is so serious) I ask him why not and he says "cause I don't have any quarters yet" it was so cute and a little pitiful, I don't know where he gets this stuff so I told him when we got home last night that if he goes #2 on the potty every poo poo equals a quarter and when he gets 10 quarters we can go to Chuck E. Cheese and spend them. So we shall see where this goes. Ha!!

  • Lucas is also learning his days of the week and months of the year at school he comes home saying them. It truly amazes me that kids his age can learn this stuff and that he can pronounce September and all. I feel so blessed to be able to send him to GracePlace and that he will have a running start at kindergarten.

  • Loving this new fall trend! Socks peeking over boots, I ordered more socks last week hoping they get here soon! In the picture I have on some of Brent's, ha!

  • Brent has been working a ton of hours lately. When I say a ton I mean a ton, this weekend he worked for 36 hours one day (there isn't even 36 hours in a day!) and Monday he worked from 6 am to 11 pm. We miss him but we also know these times come and go. I do want to do something special for his birthday this year hopefully he can get off one day for that...

  • I am so excited that Halloween is less than a week away! I am loving all the Halloween movies playing on t.v. this week! Casper and Hocus Pocus are my all time favorites, brings me back a few years. I have to say Halloween might be my favorite holiday. It's just so fun, there isn't a lot of riff raf with it, ya know. We are having family and friends over for dinner Halloween night then we are taking the kiddos trick or treating together. I can't wait to see all the kids dressed up! Speaking of I have to finish Luke's costume asap!!

  • It's the oddest thing about my hair, I feel like I have never been any color but the color I am now, I just love it so much. I think Brent likes it too, he won't admit it though ;) What a good feeling to like the way your hair looks, that is something I have struggled with since becoming a mommy I feel very good at the place I am in with it now. Which I know sounds SO shallow but until one has been there they won't know what I am talking about. If I was asked today I think I would say that I will stay blonde forever, but we all know how that goes! I am most happy to have my side braid back I have felt lost without it! ha!

  • I think that is it guys! Wow I had a lot to say! ha! I hope you all have a very fun Halloween!!!

Tidbits for Thursday!

  • I'm just going to get this out of the way first ;) "No Spend September" was not as big of a success as I had hoped for. I did save some extra money and I did get our savings account up but that is where the positive ends. My last total I had put in was $531 and since then I have put in $65.70 so that gives me the grand total of $596.70! Not awful, that's almost $600 in savings we didn't have this time last month but I didn't meet my goal. I am thinking about trying again after the first of the year.

  • Is anyone else watching Sister Wives!? O my word that show is like a train wreck waiting to happen but for some reason it still intrigues me why these women want to share a man and more so why on earth a man would want to deal with more than one wife! Wow!

  • Busy Busy week this week Monday I was at the salon for 2 and a half hours, Tuesday I had my school board meeting, Wednesday is nursery night, Thursday I am hosting bingo for my bingo club which consists of 17 ladies yikes, Friday evening we are having dinner with family, Saturday I "plan" to rest while Brent is at the racetrack ha, and Sunday we are going to a local fall festival! Wow! I am already exhausted! I wonder if I will even be able to get up on Saturday!

  • We kind of got off ship with eating good this last weekend, with the fair and the air show there is just no way to eat good at those events but other than that we have are still doing very well. I haven't had "fast food" in ages! And I made a cake the other night with Sprite Zero instead of using the eggs, milk, butter, and oil and it was really good! It was still considered a splurge but nothing like what it could have been!

  • Well I got my hair colored for the first time in 5 years on Monday night! It's blonde! I was really nervous but excited before I went to the salon but I am in love with the way it turned out! What a fresh change! And to top it off Lucas said "You have yellow hair just like me!" He thought that was pretty cool, what a sweet little guy to want to be just like mommy! O these days.....

  • Poor Luke I got him all dressed up for picture day at school only to find out that it was the next day! Here he is in his picture day outfit.

Gah he looks so big! If he wasn't holding a sippy cup I would say he was 4! But he is just the cutest thing I have ever seen! Biased maybe? O well that's part of the fun!
